Dé Tableware by Ann Demeulemeester
Shadow painting on porcelain by the artist Ann Demeulemeester

About Ann Demeulemeester
Serax likes to get well-known, extraordinary designers on board to create new, extraordinary collections again and again. The Dé series was designed by Belgian fashion designer Anne Demeulemeester. She has used the art of chiaorscuro, the meeting of light and shadow, for this extraordinarily beautiful work. The designer belongs to the designer group Antwerp Six and has its own production company with its own studio in her home called Maison Guiette in Antwerp.

The intensity of the textures on the plates invites different combinations. Depending on the occasion and atmosphere, the variants can be arranged differently. The intensity of the bold reds and blacks fully accentuate special dishes. Combine colors, line shape and design appropriately depending on the guest. Whether mix & match or tone on tone. The effect will change every time.

The game of Chiaroscuro which in graphics and painting describes the technique of spatial painting of light-shadow effects, Ann Demeulemeester has taken up and brought to perfection. The infinite combination possibilities are limitless. Shadow painting on porcelain is created by meticulously hand-painted hatching. It describes the transition from dark to light and vice versa. The dégradé shows us the gradations in different strengths. An encounter of light and shadow.
