Handmade mobiles
Lappalainen is a small German manufacturer from Frankfurt. Since 2014, they have been handcrafting floating mobiles in geometric shapes. Rivka Baake and her husband Wilfrid Kreutz converted a former pub into a creative studio where purist works of art, such as the wonderful mobiles, are created today. We were allowed to interview Rivka. She tells us how she lives and how the mobiles are made. In the interview with the artist Rivka, you can learn more about the Lappalainen brand.

Lappalainen mobiles are inspired by nature
Special attention is paid to high-quality materials and techniques. Each mobile is unique and made to order. Nature often serves as a source of inspiration for the couple; the Leaves mobile, for example, is reminiscent of dancing leaves. They effortlessly blend into any room and create a wonderful eye-catcher.
A mobile as decoration: let the soul dangle
We know mobiles mainly from early childhood days. Sometimes mobiles with animals or other colourful decorations are hung over the bed. This is to help babies and children fall asleep or to keep them occupied with the colourful figurines that dangle down on them. At first glance, the noble creations by Lappaleinen no longer have much to do with colourful children's mobiles. But one thing remains: our fascination for the movement of the works.
